When and where cricket in Leamington began has still to be ascertained. The game had an intermittent popularity between the 1820's and the 1890's, flourishing in the 1860's under the prestigious influence of Parr and Wisden who brought cricket teams to Leamington Spa. The Club in its present form was founded on 21st February 1899. Sir Wathen Waller, a notable teetotaller, was landlord and he offered the present ground to the Club for 2,500 pounds in 1920. The sum was raised by 1925.
